Latest news - More licenses confirmed!
Summer may be over in the Northern Hemisphere but that doesn't mean cricket is over. With Cricket 24 on the way soon we've got some more news about licenses in the game.
The following domestic leagues & competitions WILL be in Cricket 24:
- Big Bash League
- Caribbean Premier League
- Pakistan Super League
- Super Smash
- The Hundred
Unfortunately, the IPL is not fully licensed so instead we are getting Indian T20.
Cricket 24 release date
Cricket 24 finally has a firm release date. After much confusion with some retailers listing the game as available from 30 June and others from 31 July, Big Ant Studios has finally revealed the actual date. Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait a bit.
Cricket 24 will arrive on 5 October 2023. This is a shame as we are in the midst of a thrilling Ashes series right now. But at least we have a firm date to circle in our calendars!
Platforms
There's good news on this front though. Cricket 24 will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Owners of consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One don't have to worry about buying a past-gen version of the game, as they can upgrade it to the latest generation for free.
There will be a Nintendo Switch port, but the expected release date for this platform is November 2023.
For the rest of the platforms, players can already pre-order the game on Amazon for £49.99. There aren't any bonuses or early access tied to pre-orders though.
Career mode
Not too much is known about the Cricket 24 carer mode at the moment. What we do know is that you will start as a club cricketer and have to work your way up to the biggest stage.
You will need to hone your skills and grow a fan base to make your way into short-form or test lineups. Or maybe both!
Will Cricket 24 have cross play support?
In addition to local and online multiplayer, Cricket 24 will fully support cross-platform play. You can play online against friends or strangers with no platform restrictions.
Custom content including stadiums, players, teams, and more can also be shared across platforms with the Academy.
Licenses
The Cricket 24 licenses list is massive. The game will have the largest number of licenses of any cricket game ever released.
Big Ant's next game boasts more than 200 players with full photogrammetry along with some of the major cricketing nations and leagues in the world.
Australia, England, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies, and Ireland are already announced for Cricket 24, with more nations on the way.
Five IPL teams have also been confirmed. These are the Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and Punjab Kings.
Also this year, Big Ant Studios was the official partner of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the IPL, but it is unknown whether this team will be available in the game. Professional Indian T20 teams will be in the game but the full list has not yet been announced.
In addition to team licenses, Cricket 24 will have licenses for various tournaments such as The Ashes, the KFC BBL and Weber WBBL, The Hundred, and the Caribbean Premier League. These tournaments will be held at more than 50 official stadiums.
