Being more expansive than some of its first-person shooter competition, Battlefield 2042 can be a little complicated at times. Even expectedly simple things like customizing weapons and using attachments can be tricky. If you're stuck on just that, here's what you need to know.
Just like in most shooters, Battlefield 2042 will give you access to new weapons and attachments as you level up. Equipping them will make you more powerful, giving you an upper hand in battle.
How to Customize Weapons & Use Attachments in Battlefield 2042
You can do this both from the Battlefield 2042 main menu and during a match, but you have to do different things for each of them.
Main Menu
If you're on the main menu, where you choose what mode you want to play, you need to head to the Collection tab, which you'll spot at the top of the page.
From there, scroll to the weapons section with the trigger buttons and select the Operator type you want to alter. Then, you can choose the weapon you want to customize, being able to change the optic, magazine, barrel, and more.
Simply select the attachment you'd like to equip and it will be added to the loadout. Just make sure you're selecting weapons you've actually unlocked. Using attachments can be a little awkward, so make sure it looks like it's attached on the main image of the weapon you're customizing before you back out.
In-Game
If you're in-game though, you just need to press square if you're on PS4/5 (X on Xbox) to customize your selected loadout between lives, before you select a respawn point.
Then, the process is the same as it is from the main menu. Just select an unlocked attachments and add them to the weapon you're using.
That customized weapon should then be active when you respawn.
