Minecraft put out Caves & Cliffs part one a handful of months ago and there's already a new one on the way. Minecraft 1.18 is sure to change the structure of caves, alongside so much more. Here's what you should know before release.
Latest - Minecraft 1.18 goes live tomorrow
After months of waiting, Minecraft 1.18 finally goes live tomorrow. Those who play Minecraft Java have been able to play it early but there's not much of a need as it's so close.
We'll update you closer to the release as we figure out the exact release time.
Release Date Announced
Minecraft caves and cliffs part two is finally out on November 30th.
This means you have to wait just under two weeks to play it for yourself.
When Is It Due?
Caves and Cliffs part two will finally arrive on November 30th.
We know that Part One was given a release date of June 8th, which it met, but up until now, we had only heard rumours.
Caves and Cliffs Update Split Into Two
Minecraft 1.17, the Caves and Cliffs update, is all fans have been looking forward to since its announcement in late 2020.
Mojang have dropped a bombshell however, surprising fans with the reveal that Caves and Cliffs would be split into two different updates.
While overall this seems mostly negative for players, it does mean the massive changes coming in Caves and Cliffs, which would've been the biggest update in Minecraft's history, will now be spaced out.

What Are We Expecting?
Unlike the first Caves and Cliffs update, which Mojang gave a detailed list of features for (which you can read over below) - the second Caves and Cliffs update has been given no content specifics.
From elimination, however, we know some of the bigger changes to expect that won't come around in the first update.
Here's what's scheduled to arrive in the first Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update in Summer:
- Goats
- Axolotls
- Crystals
- Spyglasses
- Geodes
- Tinted Glass
- Copper
- Lightning Rods
- Glow Squids
- Glow Ink
- Powder Snow
- Lush Cave Blocks
- Dripstone Cave Blocks
- Deepslate
- Ore Variants
- Glow Lichen
- Multiplayer Sleeping Rule (Java)
With this list, we can expect the second Caves and Cliffs update to contain the following:
- Cave generation changes
- Mountain generation changes
- Ore distribution changes
- Ore visual changes
- The Warden
- Deep Dark biome
- Skulk blocks
- Skulk chutes
- Skulk sensors
The Latest Patch Notes
We don't expect to receive the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs patch notes for update 2 until well after Summer - but that doesn't mean Mojang won't offer them earlier.
Once the patch notes arrive, we'll update with all of the latest information here.
