Saddles are one of the more important items in the world of Minecraft.
Though it only really has one use, it's needed to riding a whole assortment of different animals in the game.
You'll need one if you plan to tame and ride a horse, skeleton horse, Donkey, Mule or even a pig.
Sure there's plenty of other ways to get around the map, but you cant beat popping a saddle on a horse (or pig, we won't judge) and riding to your destination.
So for those wanting to know, here's all the ways you can make and get a saddle in Minecraft.
How to make a Saddle in Minecraft
First off, it's worth explaining that you can not make a saddle using the games traditional crafting table or furnace.
Instead, you need to find and gather this item from within the game.
With that in mind, here's how.

Where to find a Saddle in Survival Mode
If you're playing in survival mode there are actually three different ways you can get a saddle.
Keep reading we'll talk you through all the options.
1. Find a chest in a Dungeon
This will probably be the most common way for players to find themselves a saddle in Minecraft.
First, you need to find yourselves a dungeon located underground.
Dungeons will typically include a moster that spawns in the middle, so you need to be aware of your surroundings.
On the upside, a dungeon should contain 1 or 2 chests that are filled with valuable items.
Assuming luck is on your side you should hopefully find yourself a saddle. All you need to do is move it from the chest into your inventory.

2. Find a Chest in the Nether Fortress
Whilst you can get a saddle from exploring the Nether Realm, it's still no easy task.
First, you'll need to build a Nether portal in order to transport to the Nether Realm in the first place.
Once you cross over, look around inside the fortress and keep an eye out of chests.
Assuming you happen across one, you can get yourself some high value items, however, whilst it's possible you could get a saddle, it's by no means guaranteed.

3. Go Fishing to catch a Saddle
This is by no means a certainty, but it is possible to catch a saddle whilst fishing.
Assuming you are one of the lucky few, the saddle will be automatically added to your inventory once you pull it from the water.
