LoL Patch 14.9 Highlights

Lee Sin ASU

A popular pick in both casual and competitive play for his high skill expression, Lee Sin (released way back in 2011!) is getting a visual upgrade with Patch 14.9. This ASU tackles Lee Sin's outdated visuals, modernizing his models, animations, VFX, and more, without changing his gameplay.

Maintaining Lee Sin's gameplay feel for his dedicated players was a crucial target for the design team. His previous attacks appear floaty, and his martial arts lacked grounding. The ASU aims to transform him into a “polished warrior monk”. Expect revamped attacks that communicate more impact and satisfaction. Lee Sin's punches will soon feel like they truly pack weight.

Players can also look forward to a vast improvement in Lee Sin’s posture and overall anatomy, along with improved outfits, cooler hairstyles, and new glammed-up textures that are on par with LoL’s newer champions and skins in quality. This goes hand-in-hand with new, fluid animations and improved sound effects for a complete refresh!

Arena round three

A fan-favorite from the Summer 2023 Soul Fighter event, Arena makes a triumphant return in Patch 14.9 with exciting new twists. Previously, it pitted four duos against each other. This update ups the ante with an eight-pair format (2v2v2v2v2v2v2v2)!

Arena set to receive a new item tier called "Prismatics"

Additionally, there will be a new class of items: Prismatics, which will completely alter how Arena plays. Prismatic items won’t be outright purchasable, instead, they’ll be presented to you in specific rounds. You won’t be able to reliably make the same build every game, so you'll need to make the most of what you're offered.

These changes aim to address concerns about repetitive gameplay, ensuring every Arena match feels fresh and exciting.

LoL 14.9 Patch Notes

While Patch 14.8 was more buff-heavy, Patch 14.9 veers to the opposite, aiming to “pull power out of the champions” who have been dominating in Season 14.
