League of Legends patch 11.16 brings new Coven skins

LoL 11.16 will be the next massive League of Legends update, and it brings some awesome new Coven skins to the table come launch day!

The first skins of this series arrived in 2018, with Coven Lissandra and Camille. In 2019, LeBlanc, Zyra, and Morgana received their own Coven skins-skyrocketing their popularity.

Now the upcoming patch 11.16 that will bring 7 more Coven skins live - 1 legendary, 5 epic skins, and 1 prestige.

A Coven means a "gathering of witches". Malphite and Warwick are beasts. So Riot decided to change the name of their skins into Old God skins, nonetheless they are part of The Coven Series.

The Coven Lore

The Coven skins are part of the Eclipse Universe, sharing lore with 3 more skin lines: General Eclipse, Death Blossom, and Elderwood.

The Coven story is related to the Old Gods; powerful entities seeking their return from the grave, after being vanished by Monastic Knights (order of Emerald Knights).

The Coven uses a corrupted energy from the corpses of the Old Gods, worship them, waiting for their return. Elderwood grew using the same energy, as the remains of the Old Gods are buried deep in their forest.

A long time ago, Kayle, Morgana's sister betrayed the Old Gods and the Coven by slaying the primordial sun and giving its power to the Eclipse knights. This started the era of Man. But many years after, the conflicts between Fay and Men helped the rise of darkness.

Now, the Coven led by Morgana seeks retribution and to give the Old God's powers back. Leona and the Eclipse Knights also stand ready to stop them.
