League of Legends Nilah: All Abilities, Leaks, & Latest News

We've hit the midpoint of League of Legends Season 12, and it seems that Riot Games aren't letting up on the new champion releases.

The latest new champion that was recently teased, and now formally announced, is Nilah. Nilah will be a melee bot laner that Riot has described as "unconventional."

Thanks to Riot, so far the only information we know about her is her abilities and tidbits of lore and gameplay via the latest Champion Trailer and other means.

With that in mind, here's what we know about the next new League of Legends champion, Nilah.

New Trailer Showcases Nilah Gameplay

Thanks to the latest new Champion Trailer, Nilah got to showcase some of her moves and abilities in action. And she looks fantastic so far.

Nilah was first teased at the start of the season via the Season 12 launch stream, and later the League of Legends Champion Roadmap in April of 2022 where Riot described her as an "unconventional" bot lane champion being introduced to the game.

One of League of Legends' developers, Ryan "Reav3" Mireles, described her as a “very mysterious, non-traditional bot lane champion we’ll be whipping out later this year.”

This was complemented by a set of hands laid out in a sort of artistic spiral that contained several purple and blue tones and hues—perhaps reminiscent of Bilgewater.

CHAMPION TEASE: Nilah got teased via strange art

Nilah is known for her "joyous laughter," and is a "stranger from the land of a thousand colors" across the seas of Runeterra. She seemingly will fight with water-based abilities as she left "tables smashed, bottles broken, strange glowing puddles all over the place" following her fight.

You can see some of the abilities in action in the trailer above.

Nilah Abilities

Nilah is a melee skirmisher that enhances herself and her allies when positive effects are cast near her and thanks to Riot, we now know what her abilities entail.

Passive - Joy Unending

If Nilah last hits a minion she and the nearest allied champion gain 50% of the experience that would normally be lost from sharing with nearby allies.

Nilah gains additional effectiveness from heals and shields given to her by allied champions. When a nearby ally casts an ability that heals or shields Nilah or themselves, Nilah grants the additional benefit to both herself and her ally.

Q - Formless Blade

Passive: Attacks and ability damage against champions ignore some of their armor and heal Nilah for part of the damage dealt. This effect scales with crit chance and can overheal, granting Nilah a shield.

Active: Nilah strikes in a line damaging all enemies hit. Hitting an enemy increases Nilah’s attack range and attack speed for a few seconds. Additionally her basic attacks will splash in a cone, dealing additional damage.

W - Jubilant Veil

Nilah envelopes herself in mist, causing her to briefly gain movement speed, reduce incoming magic damage, and dodge all incoming basic attacks. Touching an ally champion hides them in the mist, granting them the same bonuses for half the duration.

E - Slipstream

Nilah dashes through a target unit, damaging all enemies she passes through. Nilah can hold 2 charges of Slipstream at once.

Nilah can cast Formless Blade (Q) during Slipstream to pull a wave in her path, dealing damage and activating her empowered attacks.

R - Apotheosis

Nilah spins her weapon in an area around her, dealing damage and pulling enemies in toward the center with a final burst. This damage heals Nilah for a portion of the damage dealt, converting excess healing into a shield. The healing and shielding scales with critical strike chance and is shared with nearby allies.
