Is GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition on PS5?

It's not quite GTA 6, but a new GTA game of sorts is releasing this week. The GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition is out now, but the release is a little strange. If you're looking to play the remakes on PS5, here's what you need to know about whether it's out on the new console.

Is GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition on PS5?

In short, yes, GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition is on PS5, but not in the conventional way.

If you head to the PS Store and look for the trilogy, you'll find one version of it for 'PS4 and PS5' which'll let you play the game on both systems.

While playing it on PS5 will see the game upgraded a little, it won't be much different to the PS4 version. Unlike other PS5 games, the GTA Trilogy isn't an entirely different game.

That doesn't change the fact that, yes, GTA Trilogy is on PS5, there just isn't a separate version for you to buy.

PS5 Physical Edition

What you won't be able to buy, however, is a physical version of the GTA Trilogy on PS5.

Only a PS4 version of the physical game will be released, and even then, you can't buy it until next month anyway.

The physical version of GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, on all platforms, will not release until December 7, so you will not be able to buy it now.

The only way to purchase and play GTA Trilogy right now is to buy the digital version on your platform of choice's store.

While there's no version of the game that comes in a PS5 specific box, the PS4 version of the game will work on your PlayStation 5 just as well. You can insert the PS4 disc into your console and play it on PS5 without any issues.
