Quickly becoming one of the biggest games in the world, and the momentum it has doesn't show any sign of slowing down any time soon.

There will also be a bunch of new quests and tasks to complete, including taking down the dangerous Geovishaps threatening Liyue in return for rewards.
Lantern Rites
To celebrate Chinese New Year, the Genshin Impact 1.3 update will kick off with the Lantern Rites event.
"Travelers will have the chance to immerse themselves in every aspect of this historic Liyue tradition, from the preparations in the days leading up to the event to the celebrations on the big day itself.
Participation will be richly rewarded, with over 1,600 Primogems, a free four-star Liyue character, and other rewards on offer to help you fully prepare for the year ahead — whatever adventures it may bring."
The Lantern Rites event will take place over multiple days and be split into three parts, unlocking more quests and rewards as players progress through them.
"The Lantern Rite event will be divided into three stages, each with a series of requests from citizens of all walks of life to help them and their loved ones get ready for the Lantern Rite.
Complete requests to raise the Festive Fever level and unlock further quests and stories."

Lantern Rites will conclude with a huge display as all of the lanterns are released into the sky.
This should be a live event and will happen at the same time for every player, although this is unconfirmed right now.
"The grand finale of the festive period comes on the final night, when countless lanterns are released into the sky, carrying with them the wishes of Liyue’s citizens.
With your help, it is sure to be an even more spectacular sight this year — maybe even one that the Vigilant Yaksha, Xiao, will pause to take in.
Either way, if you use an HDR screen with your PS4 or PS5, we highly recommend that you take this opportunity to put our HDR Display function to the test!"
Tower Defense Mini Game
During the Lantern Rites event, there will be a tower defense mini-game called Theatre Mechanicus.
"Beat Theater Mechanicus at different difficulty levels to win Peace Talismans, which can be spent at the Xiao Market on rewards including the Crown of Insight, a new namecard style, and more.!
Five Flushes of Fortune
There will be a variety of daily events that take place throughout the Lantern Rites event, including Five Flushes of Fortune.
"Fans of photography simply mustn’t miss “Five Flushes of Fortune,” which will have you claim a certain Kurious Kamera from Ji Tong, take pictures of specific targets, and exchange the photos with Ji Tong for troves of treasure. Surplus photos can be sent to friends."
Vishaps and Where to Find Them
Players that are at Adventurer Rank 20 will be able to take part in the Vishaps and Where to Find Them quest.

It sounds like there will be a lot of stuff to keep players busy in the 1.3 update, and that's just a single event.
We can expect many more changes and additions to the game when the update lands on February 3rd.
Genshin Impact is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices.
A Nintendo Switch port is in development but no release date has been announced, there are currently no plans to bring the game to Xbox.
