Who are Euro 2020's Biggest Winners and Losers ahead of FIFA 22

Euro 2020 has been a joy to watch, with so many exciting games and unexpected performances, it has been the high point of the summer.

It may also give a headache to FIFA 22 game designers, with some player performances being so outstanding that their originally intended rating will need to be bumped up. Other players may suffer after under-acheiving at the tournament.

Let's take a look at the biggest winners and losers for FIFA 22 ratings, due to Euro 2020.

WINNER - Raheem Sterling (OVR 88 → 89)

STERLING EFFORT - Euro performances massive from Raheem

For a lot of people Sterling may be the player of the tournament, dragging England through the group stages with his goals and putting in great displays in the knock-outs. His reward could be a Euros winners medal, with the added bonus of a ratings increase on FIFA 22.

Many people question Sterling, but he always proves the doubters wrong. We were thinking he may even go down to an OVR 87, as he hasn't been up to his previous seasons high standards.

If England manage to win the Euro 2020 we might even see Sterling bring home a 90 rating!

LOSER - Kylian Mbappe (OVR 90 → 90)

NO CHANGE NEEDED - A lackluster tournament for the superstar

His predicted rating may not have dropped from FIFA 21, but for a player of Mbappe's class that isn't going to be good enough. He will be wanting to grow into the world's best, but that's not happening this season.

His club form has been high as usual, and many thought Euro 2020 was France's for the taking. If Mbappe could have stood out this tournament and helped France go deeper we may have seen a ratings increase of one or two points!

Alas, that was not to be, and fans will have to wait another year before Mbappe can challenge Messi and Ronaldo to one of the game's top spots.

WINNER - Leonardo Spinazzola (OVR 78 → 82)

ITALIAN STALLION - We got used to the LB galloping down the wing

Italy slipped under the radar for many, but have shown the world they are still a force to be reckoned with. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise has been the performances of their right-footed left-back Spinazzola.

He is one of the main reasons Italy has done so well this tournament, one of the most attacking full-backs you're likely to see, and he was rewarded with a Summer Stars card on Ultimate Team.

It was a real shame to see him injured in the quarter-finals, but his spirits will be lifted as he is surely getting a big increase on his rating.

LOSER - Bruno Fernandes (OVR 87 → 86)

FORM ISN'T EVERYTHING - Is this what to expect from Fernandes?

Fernandes breathed new life into Manchester United when he joined, but in recent months he has gone missing, leading many to question whether the start of his United career was a purple patch.

His form in Euro 2020 hasn't helped his case, finding it hard to even get into the starting line-up.

A few decent performances would probably have seen him keep his 87 rating, but he is now in danger of dropping to an 86.

WINNER - Bukayo Saka (OVR 75 → 81)

BAKA THE QUEUE - Saka's performances mean Sancho, Foden and Grealish start on the bench

It's another England player who has benefited from the Euros. When Sancho, Foden, and Grealish are being kept out the starting 11, you must be doing something right - and Saka has been doing just that!

He hasn't seem fazed playing on the big stage, always attacking defenders with his forward-thinking play. The Arsenal youngster was a stand-out at club level too, so coupled with that we expect a big boost for him on FIFA 22.

Honorable Mentions

We couldn't include pieces about all the great players from Euro 2020, but here are a few more that could expect a ratings increase due to their performances:

Kaspar Schmeichel (OVR 84 → 86)

Denzel Dumfries (OVR 79 → 82)

Granit Xhaka (OVR 80 → 82)

Patrik Schick (OVR 78 → 81)

Kalvin Phillips (OVR 76 → 80)
