The cover star is always a hot topic ahead of any new FIFA game, and FIFA 22 will be no different.
Kylian Mbappe starred on the cover of all three editions of FIFA 21, but could this change when FIFA 22 is released later this year with a new golden boy making moves?
Take a look at who we think could take his place below.
Release Date
We don't know the official release date for FIFA 22 just yet as we are still months away from release.
FIFA 21 was slightly delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but this should not impact this year’s release date.
Judging by previous editions of the game, we are expecting FIFA 22 to be released in late September, potentially Friday, 24 September.
Unlike FIFA 21, we expect a FIFA 22 Demo to be released beforehand giving us early access to the new game.
FIFA 21 Cover Star
PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe was the exclusive cover star to FIFA 21, other than a brief appearance from David Beckham around Christmas time.
Mbappe starred on the cover of all three editions (Standard, Champions & Ultimate) of FIFA 21, but will this trend continue?
Judging by Mbappe's performances in the Champions League this season, EA would be foolish to let one of the world's most exciting players go just yet.
However, we would love to see him joined on the cover, or at least have a selection of stars one each edition of the game for the sake of variety.
Erling Haaland
Our top pick for the next FIFA cover star would be Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland.
We could be witnessing the start of the next Messi-Ronaldo rivalry as Mbappe and Haaland look to be the next youngsters to dominate world football for years to come.
Mbappe already boasts a World Cup winners medal to his name, but Haaland will almost certainly bring home plenty of silverware throughout his career.
We think it would be epic to have both lethal forwards on the cover, especially if it could create an iconic advert for the game like we have seen in the past.
