A big summer of international football has begun, with Euro 2020 and the Copa America kicking off over the weekend.
EA has joined in the celebrations too, releasing the Festival of FUTball promo event in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.
As part of the promo, EA introduced the 'Path to Glory' (PTG) cards which can be upgraded throughout the summer, and now there is a second card type too.
Festival of FUTball Release Date
FIFA 21's Festival of FUTball arrived on Friday, 11 June at 1pm ET / 6pm BST.
We are not sure how long the promo will run just yet, but we are sure to find out soon.
Path to glory
Path to Glory cards were the first to be released as part of the event with added skill move and weak foot bonuses available.
While not as straight forward as the Road to the Final cards, the Path to Glory players will follow similar trends to the What If promo.
Upgrades:
- 3 wins +2 OVR
- 4 wins +1 OVR
- 5 wins +1 OVR
- 6 wins - 5* Skill Moves and Weak Foot
With a maximum of +4 to their OVR, a start rating of 95 OVR could see a new 99-rated card.
Nation Player Cards
Joining the Path to Glory cards as new arrivals in the game are the Nation Player cards.
These will work slightly differently from the PTG cards, as explained by EA.
"FOF Nation Players will also be released during the event via SBCs and Objectives.
"These are permanently upgraded Special Items that represent a different nation each release to help you upgrade your nation-themed squads throughout the event."
It looks as though we could see plenty more of these cards released in the coming days, and we can't wait to see what else is to come.
Gimenez SBC
Uruguay's Jose Maria Gimenez was the first player to be released as a Nation Player SBC.
The new card is terrific too with a huge 92 OVR and searing pace.
He could be the perfect defensive partner for the likes of Raphael Varane and Jules Kounde if you have a La Liga squad.
Find out how to unlock Gimenez's 92 OVR card.
