EA only remove players from FIFA Ultimate Team in exceptional circumstances.
This is usually is very solemn circumstances due to deaths of current players, with Emiliano Sala removed on FIFA 19.
To our knowledge, no player has ever been removed for making disgraceful remarks, and it's great to see EA Sports taking a stand after the comments made by Marco van Basten a few weeks ago.
The FUT Icon said "Sieg Heil" live on-air working for Fox Sports, a phrase associated with Nazi rallies. He has since be suspended by the network.
REMOVED: FIFA's message following the remarks of Van Basten
A message from the FIFA team on FIFA 20 read: "We are aware of the recent comments by Marco van Basten. We have an expectation that our commitment to equality and diversity is upheld across our game.
"As such we will suspend Marco van Basten ICON items from being available in [FUT] Packs, SBCs and FUT Draft until further notice."
What if I own Van Basten?
If you have Marco van Basten - who has 89, 91 and 93 rated cards in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team, you can continue to use him.
With fresh cards of the player no longer arriving in Ultimate Team, is current items have become rarer, and therefore more lucrative.
Reddit user BMG-Darbs99 reported: "His 89 just shot up from 550k [coins] to 1.1m and his 91 from 490k to 950k."
What EA will do to stop his inflated price remains to be seen, but they could remove all current cards for the Dutchman and compensate any users of him with FUT coins.
