Bethesda's MMORPG, The Elder Scrolls Online, is showing no signs of slowing down as we enter 2021. First launched in 2014, TESO had a rocky start but has confidently bounced back with a series of game-changing expansions. Now, another new adventure is waiting... The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood is the next major storyline update coming to the game.
Blackwood Announced as Next Story Chapter for ESO
Bethesda Softworks' Senior VP of Global Marketing and Comms, Pete Hines, joined ZeniMax Online Studios on Twitch earlier today to announce the upcoming expansion.
ESO: Blackwood is bringing just over 30 hours of brand new main storyline quests to the MMORPG.
It also promises a ton of side quests and, as an update, will bring a number of key quality of life changes.
This expansion will task players with uncovering the evil schemes of the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon.
According to ZeniMax Online Studios, these events occur roughly 800 years before Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Players will be able to explore the Imperial City of Leyawiin, Shadowfen, and the mysterious Blackwood itself.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood is coming to PC June 1 and Consoles June 8.
It will launch as a part of the "Gates of Oblivion" Year-Long Adventure for ESO.
Returning to Oblivion
If the name Leyawiin looks familiar, there's a good reason for that.
This Imperial City first featured in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which originally launched in 2006!
Leyawiin is a fortified coastal city that acts as the capital for the local region.
Gates of Oblivion Year-Long Adventure
The Blackwood storyline expansion is just one of the numerous updates coming to ESO in 2021.
The Rockgrove Trial, Oblivion Portal World Events, and Companions feature are all coming to ESO as a part of this huge content drop.
Companions Are Coming
Yes, you read that right! At long last, Elder Scrolls Online is getting a companions feature in the upcoming Blackwood Story Chapter.
In previous titles, Companions are NPC characters that accompany the player in their adventures across Tamriel.
They often fight alongside the player, can be used to carry items, and can occasionally perform tasks. They also, more often than not, come with their own questlines.
Blackwood is launching as part of the Gates of Oblivion year-long adventure on PC June 1 and Consoles June 8.
