How To Focus Umbral Engrams In Destiny 2

Umbral Engrams are back in Destiny 2! * General Rejoicing *

The Season of the Chosen is all about facing off against Empress Caiatl and her wild attempts to reunite the Cabal.

This update adds The Hammer of Proving, Cabal Gold, and has brought about the return of Umbral Engrams!

Umbral Engrams can be used to farm a few specific rewards, however, you might be wondering how you can focus them...

Below, we've got everything you need to know regarding how you can focus your Umbral Engrams.

How To Get

To put it simply, you can get Umbral Engrams just from playing the game.

They pop up like every other Engram in-game, whether that be from Public Events or the Crucible.

ENGRAMS - This is what they look like when they drop!

Umbral Engrams drop as loot from pretty-much any kind of defeated enemy. However, it's worth noting this is at a pretty slow rate.

So, if you're off killing and you haven't got any yet, it won't be long!

Umbral Engrams have a darker glowing effect than other Engrams, so they're the ones you want to be looking out for.

How To Focus

Having a bunch of Umbral Engrams is all well and good, but what do you actually do with them?

In order to focus an Umbral Engram, you'll need to take it to H.E.L.M., the new social space that was added amongst the Season of the Chosen update.

Once here, you'll need to head over to the Prismatic Recaster. Interacting with it will open up a menu of a series of "bounty-like" quests you'll need to do in order to focus your Umbral Engrams.

BOUNTIES - Here's what the Prismatic Recaster UI will look like.

These can be pretty much anything, from Scout Rifle kills to Battlegrounds completions.

There are three variants of Umbral Engram focus available from the Prismatic Recaster.

As you might imagine, Tier 2 and Tier 3 are going to require a little more work but it will be worth it.

The best advice is to make sure you take a look at what you could need to do before getting the Umbral Engrams. That way, your options are open and you shouldn't have any trouble with whatever it throws at you.

After completing the relevant challenge, you will need Legendary Shards and Hammer Charges in order to produce a Focused Engram.

Hammer Charges can be obtained via playing through Battlegrounds games with The Hammer of Proving equipped.
