Although the core game is still being polished with post-launch updates, CD Projekt Red might also be working on the multiplayer side of Cyberpunk 2077.
A new leak has surfaced and this one has some interesting reveals about the multiplayer.
Taking inspiration from GTA
According to a new report from DSOGaming, the executable file for the game has some clues regarding two game modes that will be available on the multiplayer.
One of them is the Heist mode and the second one is a more traditional Deathmatch style mode.
The report indicates that the Heist mode might work similar to a single-player quest.
Apart from that, the same file has some lines of code that indicates the multiplayer will depend on P2P connection instead of having dedicated servers. There is a long way to go for the multiplayer release, so this can change in the future.
The report also states that anyone who has access to the executable file will be able to find the code refering to both game modes and the connection settings.
When will the multiplayer come out?
For now, there is no release date for Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mode.
CD Projekt Red have said that their priority right now is improving the quality of the game by releasing multiple updates. We are expecting one big update in January that will do just that.
Besides, the developers also promised that the first batch of free DLC will come out at the beginning of 2021, meaning that this will also be one of their priorities.
So their hands are pretty full at the moment, that is why CDPR commented that we should expect this mode to arrive at some point after 2021.
