Cyberpunk 2077 Demo: Free trial releasing alongside next-gen upgrade

CD Projekt Red held a live stream today all about the next-gen update. Spending the last few years fixing Cyberpunk 2077, the team are ready to show it off to the world with a brand new trial. This is what you should know about it.

LATEST - Next-Gen Update Out Now

After a lengthy live stream with the team, going over all the new updates, the Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen update is finally here. You can get it downloaded and try it for yourself right now.

Alongside this, they confirmed the free trial for both Xbox and PlayStation, giving you five hours of gameplay before you have to buy it.

Cyberpunk 2077 Demo & Free Trial

Since the game's initial launch in late 2022, fan perception has been mixed to say the least, thanks to a lot of significant bugs and other issues.

Now, it seems like the long promised next-gen versions will be released very soon, hopefully fixing many of the issues that the game has faced over the last 15 months.

Some eagle eyed prospective players have noticed that CDPR may be planning a free trial demo to allow players to try out the new versions before they upgrade, in case it's still a bit of a mess.

As noticed by Tom Warren, Senior Editor at The Verge, a swiftly deleted tweet from Xbox Netherlands suggested a Cyberpunk 2077 demo was coming.

The tweet, when translated, said: "Explore the world of Cyberpunk 2077 in the Next-Gen Update with a 5-hour free trial on Xbox Series X/S now available"

We now know that this turned out to be true.

How to Download Cyberpunk 2077 Free Trial

Once it is live, you should find it pretty prominently on your PS or Xbox Store.

On the game's main page, you should see the option to download the free trial, so select that and wait for it to download.
