Prepare for liftoff!

Season One of Cold War is set to be released on Wednesday, December 16.

We now know more of what we can expect to see in the Season One drop, with Activision releasing their content roadmap on Friday.

Cold War Season One

We've been kept waiting, but it's almost go-time!

We have been treated though, with a Double XP weekend being dropped into the title in order to keep us ticking until Wednesday's launch.

And now that we know what we can expect to see, the excitement is real.

Warzone

Warzone users have plenty to be excited about in preparation for the Season 1 drop, with Activision confirming that there will be a brand new Rebirth Island map heading to the Battle Royale mode.

Fans of the original Black Ops title may be familiar with the name, that is of course because it was the name of a location in the campaign on the 2010 title.

Players will be starting on an even slate, with two new, revamped Gulags to master if you are going to win those 1v1 battles.

The first is a shrunken down version of Nuketown '84, with the second featuring in the depths below the Rebirth Island's Prison Block.

There will be plenty of new guns and loadout options making there way over from Cold War too, making your decisions that much tougher.

Maps

Speaking of maps, there are plenty of new multiplayer maps heading to Cold War too.

No fewer than eight new maps will be heading to the title, with four coming to the standard modes, and four more heading to the returning Gunfight mode.

  • Raid (BO2)
  • Nuketown 84: Winter Edition
  • The Pines
  • Fireteam
  • U-Bahn (Gunfight)
  • ICBM (Gunfight)
  • KGB (Gunfight)
  • Game Show (Gunfight)

In terms of what to expect from maps for the returning Gunfight, you will be expected to come into combat in an underground, a TV Studio and the KGB headquarters!

Gamemodes

Gunfight isn't the only game mode making a return to the Call of Duty fold, with one classic mode returning alongside a brand new, never before seen mode.

Prop Hunt

Prop Hunt will be heading back to Cold War once Season 1 launches.

We imagine that jumping into a game of Prop Hunt in the new seasonal Nuketown 84 map would be a great way to get into the Christmas spirit!

Dropback

The second mode heading to Cold War is entitled Dropback.

What this entails remains to be seen. But thankfully, we won't have long to wait to find out!

Zombies

There will be two new modes heading to Zombies too, one of which appears to be a full-time addition, with the second looking like its a seasonal LTM.

  • Cranked
  • Jingle Hells (LTM)

We don't know about you, but nailing some zombies in Jingle Hells sounds like a great way to spend your Christmas Eve!

Weapons

The Roadmap reveals that there will be three new, confirmed weapons heading to Cold War when the Season 1 update drops.

The Mac-10 SMG will be making a return - having last been seen in the Modern Warfare title - with the Gorza AR and the Streetsweeper shotgun also joining the fold.

Operators

Finally, there will be three new elite operates heading to Warzone this Wednesday.

We've got a Soviet soldier by the name of Stitch alongside two new NATO operators - Bulldozer and Zeyna - both of whom can be unlocked by completing the Season 1 Battle Pass.
