Battlefield 2042 hasn't had the smoothest launch, but it's shaping up to be a solid outing for EA DICE. As it's being slated as a live service game, we're expecting a few seasons of content and it looks like Battlefield 2042 is going to lean heavily on this.
Here's what we know about Battlefield 2042 Season 1 and when we should expect it to come out...
SEASON ONE - When does it come out?
At the moment, we don't know when Battlefield 2042 is due to start. EA DICE hasn't said anything specific and there are rumours that it's going to release early 2022. This is a little later than we expected, but we should see something in January or February.
Battlefield 2042 isn't even out fully yet - it's due to release properly on November 19th. We might not hear something about Battlefield 2042's first season of content until December, either.
We're expecting four seasons of content throughout 2022 - this means we should see them last around three months each. EA DICE has also suggested that there's going to be a solid pre-season content line-up between now and then.
“During launch we’ll also kick off the Preseason with Weekly Missions and Rewards, Limited Time Modes, featured Creator Spotlights and experiences in Battlefield Portal, and more!”
What to Expect
We know that a new specialist will be coming in season one but again, details are thin. We could also see some new weapons and cosmetics added to the game like charms and melee items. This will all be compiled into a Battle Pass type system. The concept is far from original but it sets players expectations in the right place for when the new content is released.
We also expect new content to be made available for Portal which is set to be a flagship mode within Battlefield 2042. This could be more classic maps and weapons brought back to help boost the content available in the sandbox setting. Early signs suggest that Portal is one of the better performing modes within Battlefield 2042.
