Assassin's Creed Mirage is the second game in the franchise to be designed for next-gen, and it looks set to live up to the hype.

Players will be able to get in on the action regardless of their platform though and delve into a completely new setting.

As well as promising the most versatile playstyle in the franchise's history, it will feature a more interactive open World than ever before. Here's everything we know so far about Assassin's Creed Mirage.

Release Date

The 2023 Ubisoft Forward Showcase revealed a lot of new information about Assassin's Creed Mirage. Fans finally got to know when the game is releasing and on which platform it will be available.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is launching on 12 October 2023. It will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Amazon Luna, and PC.

There will be a hefty DLC pack available on release, inspired by the Prince of Persia, and will come free with the Deluxe edition for a slightly higher price tag. More DLC will no doubt be released as the game cycle progresses.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Gameplay

The Ubisoft Forward Showcase presented fans with 12 minutes of gameplay footage. This allowed fans a look at some of the new mechanics the game introduced, as well as old ones that were improved.

Players were also able to get a feel of how the combat is going to work. The gameplay showed the many weapons Basim has at his disposal and the various ways he can use them.

We now know that Basim has a blowdart that will make enemies fall asleep. A "noisemaker" bomb that will distract enemies, a throwing knife, and a trap box that will poison and immobilize enemies for a period of time.

Of course, the old reliable hidden blade is still the most important tool in his inventory. With it, Basim can eliminate enemies swiftly, and without leaving a trace.

Some of the classic Assassin's Creed franchise features are also present in Assassin's Creed Mirage. Features such as the eagle vision, blending in with the crowd, and the characteristic parkour are all there.

It's clear that Assassin's Creed Mirage follows the line of the classic Assassin's Creed games. By straying away from the RPG concept implemented in the last three franchise titles, Assassin's Creed Mirage captures the essence of the first games.

This is something many fans are happy about, and that can hopefully revitalize the franchise.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Setting

Mirage is set in 9th century Baghdad, with the story kicking off in 861AD, at the beginning of the golden age. The city at your feet was reportedly the centre of the World at the time, with culture, trade, and much more flourishing.

Since Baghdad was effectively destroyed five centuries later, Ubisoft has consulted plenty of historical texts from surrounding cities. This has ensured that the city and life at large remains as historically accurate and immersive as possible.

As the city is the center of the action, however, the open world we've come to expect will be smaller than many previous editions. It will be much more dense and interactive in Assassin's Creed Mirage though to compensate.
