World of Warcraft Shadowlands has been live for over a year, which means that players have had plenty of time to participate in endgame content.
From first reaching level 60 and unlocking a Covenant to getting to defeat the likes of Sire Denathrius during the game's first set of endgame content, later taking on Sylvanas Windrunner in the following patch, there has been plenty to do in the world of the Shadowlands.
The same can be said for flying in Shadowlands. Instead of going through an extensive process, known as the dreaded Pathfinder achievement chain, Shadowlands brought a new way to do it.
With that, here's how to get Flying in WoW Shadowlands.
UPDATE - Shadowlands 9.2 Flying Guide: How to Fly in Zereth Mortis
Similar to other new zones in past World of Warcraft expansions, Shadowlands' new zone, Zereth Mortis, requires players to complete a few things to obtain flying.
In order to unlock flying in Zereth Mortis, players will have to complete the meta-achievement, Unlocking the Secrets, which has a total of six achievements within itself. Four of the six have no special requirements while the other two require completing specific chapters of the 9.2 Campaign.
With that being said, here are the six achievements players must complete:
- Explore Zereth Mortis - simply requires players to explore the Zereth Mortis zone. It does not require them to explore the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid island.
- Curious Collections - players must discover five hidden treasures in Zereth Mortis, and any five will do.
- Tales of the Exile - players must find the seven pages of "Firim in Exile" across Zereth Mortis. They are represented by a large yellow dot on the ground.
- Adventures in Zereth Mortis - players must kill 10 rare mobs in Zereth Mortis.
- Path to Enlightenment - Available during Week 2, after completing Chapter 3 of the Campaign, this involves three side quest lines in Zereth Mortis that contain multiple quests per line.
- A Means to an End - complete Chapter 6 of the 9.2 Campaign.
Once these are all completed, players will have their meta-achievement done and flying will be available.
How to get Flying in Shadowlands
Thanks to Shadowlands patch 9.1, players can get flying fairly easily, they have just a simple set of requirements to meet.
Requirements
- Renown 44
- Complete the Covenant campaign
With only two requirements to meet, players can acquire flying in Shadowlands by following these steps. First, you must reach Renown 44 and complete the Covenant campaign. Following that, you must complete 4 chapters of the Chains of Domination campaign up to the "The Last Sigil" quest.
After that, you will receive Memories of the Sunless Skies and unlock account-wide flying in the Shadowlands zones.
Where can Flying be used in Shadowlands?
Once unlocked, flying can only be used in a select number of zones. These zones include Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth. The zones in which flying doesn't work are as follows, The Maw, Oribos, and Korthia.
Once in Patch 9.2 though, you will be able to fly in the new zone of Zereth Mortis after you complete another achievement, Unlocking the Secrets. Once completed, account-wide flying in Zereth Mortis will be unlocked as well.
All Covenant Flying Mounts
Apart from including flying, patch 9.1 also included Covenant-specific flying mounts that become available at Renown 45. There is also a Renown 70 mount, and a Covenant-only mount purchased from Threadbare Cloth in Korthia for 1000 Stygia and Exalted reputation
