Riot Games quickly disabled Split in Valorant today after discovering a major exploit that gave players an unfair advantage.

A fix is in the works, but until Patch 8.08 arrives, Split will be unavailable in Competitive, Unrated, Premier, Swiftplay, and Spike Rush. Split was initially scheduled to be featured in Premier matchmaking this week but has been replaced by Ascent.

Split removed from Valorant following gamebreaking boost exploit

Riot Games announced the discovery of two bugs in Valorant on X recently: "One with Cypher’s Trapwire, which shows his Trapwires on the minimap of his teammates after he has died, and the other an exploit on Split."

While the Cypher Tripwire bug may not significantly impact gameplay, the Split exploit is a more serious issue. Riot has yet to reveal the specifics, but players suspect that it's most likely a wall boost granting an unfair off-angle advantage.

This exploit likely involves a tall structure near the A site entrance, accessible by high-mobility agents like Raze and Jett. It was discovered that the structure has a small ledge that allows players to stand on and fire from, creating an overpowered off-angle.

Attackers approaching the bombsite from A Main are at a significant disadvantage against this angle. Even after taking the site, defenders can easily hold a post-plant position from the same exploit.

Regular wall boosts might be frustrating for enemies, but they typically involve gaining a temporary off-angle advantage. This particular wall boost on Split severely disrupts game balance!

To address this exploit, Split has been removed from Competitive, Unrated, Premier, Swiftplay, and Spike Rush map pools until Patch 8.08. As Split was supposed to be the Premier map this week, Ascent will be played instead. Split will also be absent from the pick and ban process in the upcoming Premier Playoffs.
