Iron Gate AB's Valheim is a triumph, but what if you want to play it from the first-person perspective for a while?
Bethesda's Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles perhaps did it best, the interchangeability between third-person and first-person perspectives in a game. Of course, the animation suffers slightly but that's understandable.
However, now, perhaps because of this, more people are wanting to be able to change their in-game perspectives at a whim.
Although Valheim doesn't officially have this feature, modders have been hard at work giving the gaming community what they want and now you can indeed play Valheim in First-Person mode.
Below, we have everything you need to know about how to install and set-up this mod for your own version of Valheim.
How To Install
Firstly, you'll need to make sure you have the correct modding framework pack for Valheim otherwise you're not going to get very far.
You can find the BepInEx pack for Valheim here. In order to install this, you'll need to do the following:
- Extract the archive into a folder;
- Take contents of BepInExPack_Valheim folder into steamapps\common\valheim;
- You can check if this looks right here and then you should be able to run the game as you would normally.

Once you have this, you should be able to download the first-person view mod from NexusMods here and get cracking.
In order to install the mod, all you need to do is put the CameraMod.dll file into the plugins folder that should be inside the BepInEx folder you moved earlier!
It will look like this: steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\plugins\
Valheim's default third-person FOV is 65, but below you can find more information about changing that...
How It Works
Using the mod is surprisingly simple. All you need to do is zoom in all the way until you're playing from the first-person perspective.
This mod is also updated almost daily with constant bug fixing issues being identified so be sure to keep an eye on the NexusMods page.

" The goal of this mod is to incorporate a first-person view, while still retaining as much of the original feel as possible."
There is also a FOV slider that can be found in the files, but this is only generated when the game is run with the mod for the first time.
