Fans of EA's long-running series are patiently waiting for the next entry, The Sims 5, to be officially announced.
EA are keeping their cards very close to their chest when it comes to details on the game, and fans will likely have to wait a while longer before finally getting a glimpse at the new game.
The Sims 5 Won't Be Revealed At E3
Once again EA has opted out of appearing at E3, instead choosing to hold their own event after E3 2021, which does make sense as it allows the spotlight to be solely on them rather than sharing the spotlight with dozens of other developers and publishers.
Although, one interesting note is that EA pre-empted E3 by revealing Battlefield 2042 on Wednesday, two days before the official start of E3 2021.
EA's next event, EA Play Live, will take place on July 22nd, which is where we can expect to find out all of the new information from EA about games that are set to release over the next year or so.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, it is expected that The Sims 5 will be officially revealed during the event.
What We Can Expect From The Sims 5
The Sims 5 will bring back many of its classic gameplay features, but some innovation has already been revealed.
One addition that will be coming is multiplayer aspects, bringing the community together with many online elements, although exactly what still remains to be seen.
In a recent interview with VentureBeat, EA’s Chief Studio Officer Laura Miele revealed that the next instalment in The Sims franchise will feature a multiplayer aspect saying,
"We had The Sims Online that came out in 2002 which was around 20 years ago. We certainly were ahead of our time.
I think 20 years later we learned a lot about how players interact, what motivates players, how players can come together co-operatively and so as you imagine as we think about the next generation of The Sims it’s SUPER important for us to have the best tools, the most flexibility and for players to really expand on their creativity, remix items and objects in the world. And then to do that together – I think that’s one of our biggest opportunities with The Sims is the social connection component that we need to bring to this brand and this franchise. The team is hard at work on the next generation of that experience."
