Everything we know about the new Warzone map

Warzone Season 3 is kicking with Verdansk 84, the awesome new Warzone map!

Here's what we know about the new Call of Duty Warzone Verdansk 84 map so far.

LATEST - New Map Out Now

The new Warzone map, Verdansk '84, is live now and you can drop into it yourself.

Much of it is the same, with some of the northern areas being changed slightly.

Overall, it's greener and brighter than the original map, making it look more different than it actually is.

Verdansk 84 Trailer Revealed

We now have an official reveal for the new Call of Duty Warzone map, Verdansk 84!

The map shows gameplay on the map and gives us an idea of the kind of locations players will soon visit in Call of Duty Season 3.

Check out the hype trailer below:

Footage Of Verdansk 84

It's only a short clip, but it's certainly something exciting! We've got our first look at the new Warzone map; Verdansk may have just been hit with a rather large explosion, but that doesn't mean the iconic battle royale map is gone for good!

As you can see in the tweet below, the rumours are true! We're going back to the Eighties to battle it out on... Basically the same map?

Okay, it's a little different but on the whole, it isn't completely new... It's certainly nothing like the difference between World's Edge and Kings Canyon in Apex Legends.

The player base is mixed, too, so we'll have to wait to see how good it is when it's actually out later today.

Warzone Event Takes Players to Night Rebirth Island

While Call of Duty Warzone players prep to take on a brand new map, it looks like a second event following up on the Verdansk nuke event is coming first!

The schedule for the event is as follows:

  • 2pm PT: Seek safety from Verdansk on Rebirth Island
  • 9pm PT: Update your comms (console) and investigate Rebirth Island
  • 12:00pm (4.22) PT: Return tomorrow to Rebirth for updated instructions

This event takes players to the Night Rebirth Island map, and it looks like there's a puzzle to solve before the new Warzone map is revealed.

Map Changes Confirmed By Season 3 Roadmap

Raven has released the Season 3 Roadmap for both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, which confirms "map changes" for the battle royale.

A new, 1980s themed map is still yet to be confirmed, but this is the first official confirmation that changes are due to arrive.

New Map Trailer Leak

A week or so ago, a Season 3 reveal trailer leaked, showing off very brief clips of some images of the new map.

The video was taken down in many places, but you'll be able to spot that Dam is now a Viaduct, that Stadium isn't fully built, and Airport is quite different.

Hopefully we'll see this trailer in full once more as we get closer to the release of Season 3 and Warzone's new map.

Nuke Event Update & Posters

The first official update on the "Nuke Event" and when it's due to start came last week.

Although there wasn't any explicit mention of a nuclear blast, it was confirmed that something is due to happen on April 21 at 12:00 PST / 15:00 EST / 20:00 BST.

Then, we have the strange outdated posters in Superstore that appear to be advertising the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

You can check them out in the tweet below:

When you combine this with the new rumours that we're actually getting a "Black Ops Cold War Era" Verdansk before a completely new map, it seems to play into that.

We're just not sure if this will be a direct result of the nuclear launch or not.

Original Rumours: Huge Map With 250 Players

Several media outlets are reporting that the Season 3 Warzone map is going to be big enough to host 250-player lobbies.

But, how true are these reports?

Well, firstly, we have the claims and reports from Tom Henderson. He's a known leaker and industry insider that previously discussed the idea that a Ural Mountains map was coming to Warzone in a post-Verdansk era.

NEW MAP? - Is this the best look at what we could be seeing next season?

In a YouTube video, Henderson built on these previous claims by claiming that the new Warzone Season 3 map will be big enough to support 250 players.

This evidence seems to have been reinforced by a Spanish Call of Duty Twitter account that has posted the following:

Translated, this means the following:

" The new warzone map is extremely large, so much so that it combines 23 dirty bomb maps. There will be more vehicles."
" Many of them have yet to make it to Black Ops Cold War. There is also talk that it will be played with 250 players..."

Is It Possible?

Although it is far from impossible, 250 players do seem like it would be a lot when you consider the current latency issues and matchmaking trouble that Warzone players suffer from.

In addition to this, with Warzone still being a PS4 and Xbox One title... You have to imagine that the base versions of these consoles will struggle with the larger lobbies.

VERDANSK - Are you looking forward to the change of scenery?

Could this be a hint that a next-gen release of Warzone is coming? Many fans agree that the quality of Warzone has been slack recently, especially the appearance of the Black Ops Cold War Operators on Warzone's engine.
