We are, all of us, prone to a spot of heady nostalgia.
With Liverpool heading to Rome today in a bid to appear in their first Champions League final in over a decade, it should come as no surprise that the Merseyside club's talismanic midfield general, Steven Gerrard, should find himself hitting the news.
However, rather than finding himself gracing the back pages of the British Press in light of Liverpool's recent triumphs, Gerrard's 15 minutes of fame come as the result of his inclusion amongst the candidates to replace Graeme Murty at Ibrox as Rangers manager.
Ranger are, of course, a team steeped in tradition and, it must be said, something of a pedigree when it comes to footballing success.
However, in recent times, they have spiralled out of control and down the Scottish league structures before climbing back into the top division.
With the chance to turn a once-great club around, no doubt Gerrard will be considering the prospect as an easy step into the managerial business.
