PlayStation 5 UX: Sony offer first look at next-generation user experience - Control Center, Activities, Navigation & more

The launch of the PS5 is agonisingly close!

And with our excitement brewing, Sony have offered us another little taste of what's to come by sharing their first look at the Next Gen console's user experience.

Here is what we've learnt.

PlayStation 5 UX

'Designed to optimise your gaming experience'

The new user experience has been designed in order to optimise the gaming experience for the Next Gen community.

"The new UX introduces several new features designed to make your gaming experiences more fun, engaging, personalized and social."

With that in mind, here are the new features which have been confirmed in today's PlayStation blog, written by Senior Vice President Hideaki Nishino.

Control Center

The brand new Control Center is designed to keep all of your key information in one place with access now easier than ever.

A single press of the PlayStation button on the DualSense wireless controller will take you to this new Control Center, which will appear at the bottom of your screen without you having to leave the game you are playing!

Activities

A second new feature is Activities, a feature designed to bring PlayStation 5 players closer to the key elements of gameplay.

Activities will be displayed through on-screen cards that will be hosted in the Control Center and will help gamers to find new opportunities in the tiles that they are playing.

They will also allow you to jump back to key parts of the game you have missed and provide you with a shortcut to jump into any specific levels or challenges that you want to get stuck into.

Navigation

Navigating between different areas of your PlayStation 5 should be seamless with the new UX.

The entire software stack has been rebuilt in order to optimise the navigation, meaning that you will have to spend less time waiting, and more time playing!
