As NHL 22 rapidly approaches the release date we've received an in-depth look at Be A Pro. More importantly, how X Factors and Archetypes will play a huge role.
Although we're still a few days away from Early Access we know that these additions are going to make an impact the second the game goes live.
To keep you ahead of the curve here's all we know about the X Factor Archetypes in NHL 22.
NHL 22 X Factor Archetypes revealed
X Factors will determine what unique ability your Be A Pro has while on the ice. It's important for players to build the player they want with that in mind.
That being said, the first level of Be A Pro will start with your Archetype, and as we've seen from the latest deep dive, Archetype's will tie in directly to X Factors.
From what we learned, there are currently five Archetype's for you to choose from in NHL 22, each of which comes with a different X Factor. We also learned that storylines and challenges will be how you earn your first X Factor in NHL 22.
All Available Archetypes (so far)
Sniper
The first Archetype we see in the NHL 22 Be A Pro Deep Dive is Sniper. Snipers are known more for shooting on the rush. If you're that type of player, then this will be a great Archetype for you.
You'll surrender in Body Checking and Fighting Skill, but make up for it in offfensive prowess and speed. The X Factor you'll receive after completing the shortened storyline is "One Tee".
The One Tee ability is defined as "Blast one-timers into the net every time. Get a huge boost to power and accuracy on one-time shots, even if the pass from your teammate was… less than ideal."
Playmaker
This Archetype is solely for the player looking to create a highlight reel in NHL 22. You'll focus on setting up incredible passes and assists while being able to score goals as well.
What you'll notice here is that you will lose a lot of ability in terms of Aggressiveness and Fighting Skill. You should definitely have some Enforcers on your team so you don't get pushed around.
The X Factor paired with the Playmaker Archetype is "Tape To Tape" which will increase backhand accuracy and reduced power penalties on passes within your vision.
Power
If you're looking to avoid the fancy footwork and plow your way right to the goal this year, the Power Archetype is the best one for you.
In front of the net, you'll box out your opponent in hopes of receiving a perfect pass from your Playmaker. You're strength and puck control will prevent you from being pushed around too.
The Power Archetype brings the NHL 22 X Factor Big Rig which has yet to be revealed by NHL 22.
Two Way
Now if you want to be good on both ends of the ice without focusing on one skill in particular. The Two Way Archetype will be your best bet in NHL 22.
This Archetype is designed to emulate Patrice Bergeron, who is known for being a proficient defenseman while providing offensive support.
Your Offensive Awareness, Defensive Awareness, Shot Blocking, and Stick Checking is nearly maxed out. The only area you'll struggle at is fighting, which is why you have an Enforcer right?
Your first X Factor after completing the short storyline is "Yoink" giving you the ability to: "Snatch that puck away with a higher stick lift success rate, and leave them hanging while they take longer than usual to recover from your trickery."
Grinder
This Be A Pro Archetype is made for aggressive defenders that look to lay massive body checks on their opponents, while still being an incredibly intelligent defenseman.
Along with Aggressiveness, Body Checking will be maxed out in the Grinder Archetype, making you one of the most feared defensemen on the ice.
The No Contest X Factor is an X Factor that NHL 22 has yet to reveal the details of, but you can imagine it'll be a huge defensive boost.
Enforcer
This is perfect for the player that isn't focused on scoring but on preventing opponents from pushing around the playmakers and snipers.
You'll be a nightmare all over the ice, manhandling opponents and causing pandemonium in the arena.
Opponents will likely want to fight you, which is great for you because you've got more than enough skill to handle anyone in your path.
Once the Truculence X Factor is revealed, we'll let you know what it will mean for your Enforcer and how it will affect gameplay in Be A Pro.
