Red Dead Online has really taken some good steps over the last few months. Rather than letting GTA Online steal the show, it has decided to bring out a big update of its own to compete. The blood money update looks like it's going to shake up the formula in some interesting ways.
Latest - Next Update Comes Out Today
Blood Money, the latest Red Dead Online update comes out today, after weeks of speculation and leaks
It should release at around 2 pm BST but if it doesn't, give it a few hours and it should sort itself out.
When Does The Next Red Dead Online Update Drop?
Red Dead Online is getting the Blood Money update on July 13th. After quite a while without anything major being added to the game... It's about damned time.
We don't know the specifics of what time of day the update is due to release, but 2 pm BST seems to be the most frequent guess at this point.
For now though, here's what we know and a trailer to boot:
There are whispers in the alleys of Lemoyne’s capital that Guido Martelli — right-hand man and underboss to the infamous Angelo Bronte — needs gunslingers of strong constitution. Martelli is seeking to recover a valuable commodity known as Capitale. Originally devised as a unique system of exchange for more sensitive business dealings away from the watchful eyes of the taxman, it's since ended up in the hands of nearly every lowlife across the five states. Now, Bronte and Martelli want it back — if you can find and return it, Martelli will reward you with access to more worthwhile criminal opportunities.
New Crimes & Opportunities (To Make Money)
Red Dead Online's Blood Money update is going to introduce a new series of Crimes for you to commit and probably the closest thing we're going to get to free-form robberies and heists in Red Dead Online.
Rockstar Games are keeping mum about the details, though. We don't know exactly what to expect going forwards other than the following sentiment:
" ...no upfront investment is required."
Essentially, it's going to be a free update and that's what we all anticipated. There's also the following general description of the difference between Crimes and Opportunities in the upcoming Red Dead Online update.
" Crimes will range from cloak-and-dagger coach holdups to multi-stage robberies — including kidnapping, brutal debt collections, and more."
" [Oppourtunities] are dispatched by Martelli in a scheme to stifle a rising Lemoyne senator who is disrupting Bronte operations throughout the region. Each Opportunity can reveal various approaches to the task at hand — listen into nearby conversations or look out for important targets to uncover new paths to completion and weaken this politician’s position by bringing each of the three Jewels of the West to Martelli. The first of three Opportunities are available on July 13, while two more will unveil themselves in time."
The Quick Draw Club Is Putting Fans Off
In addition to all this, Rockstar Games is also introducing a Battle Pass system to Red Dead Online in the next update. It's a bold move that could pay off, but it's also drawn some flack from players given the fact that Red Dead Online players feel the game has been neglected by Rockstar in favour of GTA Online.
" The Quick Draw Club is a series of four distinct rapid-fire passes, arriving in consecutive instalments over the coming months. Purchasing each membership entitles you to rewards, bonuses, and items to help live life on the fringe of the law..."
Each pass is going to set you back 25 Gold Bars and you'll be able to earn these back by completing all 25 Ranks on offer. If you purchase all four passes that are coming up you'll also get the upcoming Halloween PAss 2 for free.
It sounds like a good deal if you play enough, but will it actually pay off for Rockstar Games? All of this seems like it could be the end for Red Dead Online if it doesn't go well.
