Despite having a really poor launch, CD PROJEKT RED has made a commitment to make Cyberpunk 2077 the game its trailers promised it could be. Luckily, we just got some information on a brand new update. Here's what we know so far about what it means for the next-gen and PS5 version.

Cyberpunk 2077 Next-Gen Upgrade on the way

Originally spotted over on Reddit, the Steam version of the game has just received an update. Late on January 14th, the BUILDID was updated, indicating some new patch is on the way.

Although we don't technically know that it's the huge update we've been waiting for, we haven't seen an update to the Steam Build since October, implying that this may be pretty big.

If it's not an indicator for the next-gen update, it's certainly a good sign for the game. The team are still updating and refining the base experience. We shouldn't have long to wait in order to play it for ourselves.

PS5 Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date

CDPR has said that the PS5 and Xbox Series will launch in the first quarter of 2022, but we don't have a final release date yet.

However, this new Steam build could hint that a reveal is coming soon.

What is a Steam Build?

The Steam Build is the version of the game that is present on Steam. If something is changed, it will show in the builds. The current one isn't public, suggesting it will drop at a certain time or it's setting the foundation for something much bigger.

Generally, a new Steam Build won't pop up until the team have committed to some fundamental change to the game. It would be rather odd for them to do this for no reason. They have likely been working on this update since the last one in October. If all goes to plan, we should finally see the next update very soon.

We will update you right here if any new information comes out and what it means. Maybe this could even hint at that multiplayer update the team have been talking about.
