As it stands, you will be sad to know that Monster Hunter Rise does not support local co-op via splitscreen.

It makes sense when you consider the standard Nintendo Switch's screen size, but with the Nintendo Switch in Docked Mode? You feel like it wouldn't be as much of an issue.
However, splitscreen isn't a common feature of Monster Hunter games in the past and Rise isn't any different.
How To Play Local Co-Op
That doesn't mean you can't play local co-op though, you'll just need two Nintendo Switch consoles with Switch Online and a stable internet connection.
If you want to play local co-op on Monster Hunter Rise, you will need to follow the standard matchmaking settings and set up a lobby like you would for a standard online game.

Monster Hunter Rise is due to launch on Nintendo Switch consoles on March 26th and it is in development for Microsoft Windows as of writing. There is currently no word on whether the game will be coming to consoles.
