The MLB The Show 24 Season 2 is here, and it introduced a lot of exciting content. With Season 2 new cards, programs, promos, and events, arrived at Diamond Dynasty.
Season 2 goal is to make the game feel fresh, especially in the extremely popular Diamond Dynasty mode. The community is also hoping for some changes in the content department.
MLB The Show 24 Season 2 Release Date
The MLB The Show 24 Season 2 went live on Friday 7 June, at around 12 pm PST (3 pm ET / 8 pm BST).
Servers already underwent a maintenance period, which took place on Friday 7 June at 4 am PT (7 am ET/12 pm BST), to make sure there were no server issues when the Season 2 content arrived at the game.
Season 2 Content
As mentioned above, Season 2 introduced a lot of content.
The Team Affinity program introduced a plethora of new players and will continue to do so throughout season 2, with the first chapter of Team Affinity Season 2 bringing 30 new 89 OVR cards.
New Cornerstone cards, which players can use to build their squad around as they provide the squad with attribute boosts, arrive at the beginning of the season.
The Season Awards program continues in Season 2, with the program introducing new cards every week, as it has been doing since the game launch.
When it comes to events, the Summer Fling Event went live as soon as Season 2 arrived at Diamond Dynasty, and players can earn a Rookie Tejay Antone card, among many other rewards, by racking up wins.
New promos, programs, and other events, will also arrive at the game throughout Season 2. There will be programs based around the MLB Draft, Home Run Derby, and the All-Star Game.
Season 2 will also honor three legendary players who are going to enter the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Developers have confirmed that "we’ll have a big content drop to celebrate", so we can expect a program or event centered on these players.
Other programs will also be introduced, and information about them will be released soon.
Changes to the Season XP Reward Path
The Season XP Reward Path underwent some changes in Season 2, to make it easier and faster for players to progress in the reward path, and collect the great rewards.
More XP is now spread across the multiple Diamond Dynasty game modes, helping players accelerate their progress in the Season 2 XP Reward Path.
Furthermore, Season 2 started with a double XP weekend, and a quadruple gameplay XP cap. This helps players progress in the Season XP Reward Path in an easier and faster way and makes it easier to unlock the first Wild Card slot.

To the surprise of many players in the MLB The Show community, the ratings on these cards are much lower than expected.
Yes, we all knew that once Season 2 started Diamond Dynasty would basically restart, and players would need to, once again, work their way into the 99 OVR cards.
However, going from a full 99 OVR squad, which many players already possessed, to now having to build a squad around 88 OVR captain cards isn't very exciting or captivating.
