Along with all the new content in the Minecraft Nether Update comes netherite, a brand new material (stronger than diamond) that can be forged into cool tools, weapons and armour!
The problem is that it exists in extremely small quantities, scattered deep in the Nether.
We're going to take you through every step of the mining process and show you how to forge it into some impressive loot, so continue reading below!
Mining Ancient Debris
Unlike diamond and iron, you can only forge netherite scraps from ancient debris.
THERE YOU ARE: Ancient debris is rarer than diamond and spawns in smaller quantities
Ancient debris is extremely rare, so you'll need to come armed with your best pickaxe and some fire resistance potions (for all of that lava floating around).

The problem remains that ancient debris can only be mined with a diamond or netherite pickaxe, so you'll have to put in the work before you give this a try.
Making a Netherite Ingot
Once you've amassed the required amount of ancient debris, throw it into a furnace so that it can turn into netherite scraps.
IT REALLY ADDS UP: Adding insult to injury, it requires eight scraps of rare scraps to make just one netherite ingot!
For each piece of ancient debris you get one netherite scrap, but you’ll need four scraps of netherite and gold to make a netherite ingot.

Luckily you'll also find collections of gold in the Nether.
How to craft Netherite Tools
So you've managed to get yourself some netherite ingots, but how do you turn these ingots into useable tools?
THE SIMPLE BIT: Now you can sit back and watch your armour upgrade before your very eyes!
Well first of all, you need to ensure you have the tool you desire, but in Diamond form.
To upgrade your diamond tool to Netherite, simply put the Diamond tool and one Netherite ingot into a crafting grid.
This will turn your Diamond tool into a Netherite one, and with it comes faster digging, much higher durability and an extra damage point!
It's important to note that any enchantments will not carry over to the Netherite tool, but other than that, you're good to go!
