After a long wait, Max Payne is finally back. Though Max Payne 3 was very impressive, it wasn't made by the original team and lacked a little bit of what made fans love those old games. With Remedy at the helm, the remake of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne is sure to be interesting. Here's what we know so far about the Max Payne remakes.
Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes Announcement
They've given very little so far but Remedy Entertainment has officially announced they are working on remaking Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.
Remedy's CEO Tero Virtala said:
“Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same,”
Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Release Date
We don't have a confirmed release date just yet. As of right now, it is in "the concept development stage". This means it is very early in development and could take years to arrive. This being said, as it's a remake, a little less time will be spent crafting the narrative and tone. They have a specific feeling they're aiming for here.
It seems likely that we won't see the game in 2022 and likely won't see it in 2023 either. If we get any confirmation of a release date, we will update you right here.
Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne Platforms
As of right now, we only have confirmation that it will arrive on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. No signs of a last-gen or Nintendo Switch port means that this will likely be quite an impressive remake. They are choosing to ignore the less powerful consoles for a reason.
Considering this is made in the same engine as Control, we can expect some pretty great visuals. The engine has ray tracing capabilities so it wouldn't be a stretch to see it here.
