League of Legends Latest Champion Nilah Receives Nerf Before Release

Every new champion has to go through their rites of passage into the Rift. Most champions in League of Legends are released to be strong, which are then hit with their first nerfs. And Nilah is no exception to this rule.

The only exception to her case is that she has been hit with a nerf before she has even stepped foot in the rift. Still in the PBE, League of Legends developers are altering her abilities so she won't be too overpowered.

What Nilah abilities were nerfed?

Nilah's Q ability "Formless Blade" has had its attack speed reduced.

Q attack speed reduced from 20%-76.1% to 15%-65%

The percentages of reduction are pretty vast and show just how much she needed to be changed before making her way to League of Legends.

The change was probably implemented to continue in line with the durability update. Attack speed is the thing that would help Nilah to end games faster, so having attack speed in her kit would throw off the whole new meta.

How will this affect her playstyle in League of Legends?

Building attack speed on her now seems a little lacklustre. Items such as Rapid Firecanon or Galeforce won't be as effective with this extreme nerf to her kit. The good thing about Nilah is that she covers a lot of bases in League of Legends. So if attack speed isn't a good build, stuff like crit may be a better idea.

It does also affect how much this melee ADC can engage. Although Nilah has safety blankets with her strong engage, disengage, and healing, that hit to her attack speed means she won't be able to output as much damage as she could pre-changes.

As always, the League of Legends team are seeking perfection and I'm sure Nilah will be the epitome of brilliant when she has all her changes finalised before entering the game.
