We've seen plenty of opportunities for EA to provide an update on The Sims 5 in recent months, especially with EA Play having just passed us in June.

Is The Sims 5 cancelled?
While we haven't received an announcement on the development progress of The Sims 5 since early in the year, we are positive that The Sims 5 is still very much in the works.
OPEN WORLD: This is what the fans have been dreaming of for years
While the global lockdown period is bound to have impacted the development process, we got some reassuring words from EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson back in February.

In an interview with CNN, Wilson explained:
"You should imagine that while we will always stay true to our inspiration, escape, creation, self-improvement motivation, that this notion of social interaction and competition… will start to become part of the ongoing The Sims experience in the years to come.”
While we didn't get so much as a time frame on the build of the next Sims game, this quote shows us that new technologies are being developed with The Sims 5 in mind.
Features
Assuming that all is well with the development progress, there are some features that we are dying to see introduced to the next sim.

For six long years we have waited for this news, however, very little has actually been revealed in terms of new features and gameplay.

It is said that the upcoming simulator will combine elements of social interaction from The Sims Online with the more traditional virtual dollhouse elements from its predecessors.
Were hoping for an open world, and more career options, but multiplayer would absolutely blow us away.

Trailer
We’re yet to see an official trailer for the sim, which we were hoping would be revealed at the recent EA Play event.
However, the well-known YouTuber OriginZ has stepped up to the task, posting a glorious home-made trailer for The Sims 5.
