How to Transfer GTA V Story Save Data to PS5 & Xbox Series X

Now that Grand Theft Auto V going to next-gen consoles has been confirmed, players will be looking to continue playing their save files on a newer platform.

Known for its hard-hitting narratives, the GTA franchise doesn't pull any punches when it comes to its story, and the same can be said about GTA V. With the enigmatic trio of Trevor, Franklin, and Michael leading the story, fans will want to see their antics in higher quality with the GTA V next-gen release.

With that being said, here's how players can transfer their GTA V Story save to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

How to Transfer GTA V Story Save to PS5 & Xbox Series X

Thanks to a post by Rockstar Games that detailed what's to come for GTA V on new-gen consoles, we now know how to transfer the game's Story Save on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

In order for players to transfer GTA V Story mode save data, players will have to enter the pause menu in the STory mode and open the Game tab, then choose "Upload Game Save." This will work for both PS4 and Xbox One.

Additionally, thanks to this tool Rockstar has created, save data migration can be done between differing consoles. Meaning, that if a player has swapped consoles, the Story mode save data transfer can still be done as it works from PS4 to Xbox Series X and Xbox One to PS5. Of course, PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X are still supported.

It's worth noting that players can only store one game save per platform at a time. So for players who utilize both of the consoles, their saves will remain available for download for 90 days.

This means that GTA V players will get to experience the Story mode in a more HD light thanks to the game being ramped up to 4k resolution and 60 frames per second on next-gen consoles. In addition, players can expect draw distance and texture upgrades, HDR options, ray tracing, faster loading times, 3D audio, and platform-specific features like advanced haptic feedback.
