Halo Infinite released last year to some fanfare but what will cement its future is how well the team pull off new events and modes. Maybe a battle royale is what it needs? Here's what we know about it so far.
Certain Affinity
Before getting into the news itself, it's worth providing the context. Recently the team behind Halo Infinite announced that a team called Certain Affinity are working on a new game mode for Halo Infinite Muliplayer.
This is one step in their ongoing effort to "deepen" their relationship with the team and franchise. They also announced a way of hiring at the company, showing an even deeper effort to make the game as big as possible.
Though this team would have worked for a multitude of developers and studios, the wording of this implies a much bigger focus than they otherwise would have taken.
Halo Infinite Battle Royale
In this, Certain Affinity is working on a new mode named "Tatanka". Tatanka is the name of a professional wrestler whose peak was winning a 40-man battle royale match. This is a huge hint at a new battle royale mode for Halo Infinite. This would make sense for a few big reasons.
Not only is the codename a fun tease but the need to bring in an entirely new team to work on a mode makes more sense when you consider how much maintenance battle royales take. If this were a more traditional mode, they might not need to hire all these new roles and make an official announcement like this.
Though it has been hinted at and teased for a while, this seems like the start of an official Halo battle royale. If we get any more information on this, we will update you right here.
