Guardians of the Galaxy New Game Plus Features Explained

They're pretty rare nowadays, but Square Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy game is a linear adventure game that's not overly long or full of side quests. Therefore, you might want to jump into new game plus to extent your time with it. If that's you, here's everything you need to know about new game plus in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Does Guardians of the Galaxy Have New Game Plus?

Thankfully, yes, Guardians of the Galaxy does have a new game plus feature.

To play it, all you need to do is complete the main campaign story and head back to the main menu. Then, select the save file you completed the game on and select new game plus.

However, not everything carries over and it does not make the game more difficult by default.

What Carries Over?

Much like new game plus in other titles, it's mostly just upgrades and unlocks that carry over in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Here's a list of what does carry over into your second playthrough:

  • Guardian abilities unlocked
  • Any upgrades unlocked from Workbenches
  • Outfits and costumes found
  • Components you have found and not spent

Now, here's a list of what does NOT carry over into new game plus in Guardians of the Galaxy.

  • Any units you've accrued
  • Star Lord's blaster variants
  • Any plot points that were affected by choices
  • Items that play a role in the story

To be honest, it's all pretty standard stuff. Anyone who's played new game plus in another game will know what to expect.

Pre-Order Bonuses

Thankfully, you'll be able to use any of your pre order cosmetics and outfits in both your standard and new game plus playthroughs.

You'll be able to equip them right from the start, as soon as you get the ability to change appearance for each of the Guardians.
