GTA 6: Are Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre working on the Soundtrack?

It feels like not a week goes by without some kind of GTA 6 news, leak or rumour but this weeks update is one of the biggest yet. It doesn't have anything to do with a release date or possibly reveal but perhaps something even more exciting.

We've heard from a major recording artist who has possibly been working on music for the game. What does this tell us about the state of the game and where production is?

Snoop and Dre working on GTA 6 Soundtrack?

Snoop Dogg, in an interview with Rolling Stone, talked about how he and Dr. Dre are in the studio working on new music. This likely wouldn't attract our attention too much had he not gone on to say that the new music was specifically 'connected to the GTA game that's coming out'.

Even more interesting is the idea that the music may be released directly through GTA 6. It wouldn't be something new for the Grand Theft Auto franchise to bag themselves some superstar power especially on their soundtrack.

Does this hint at a possible release window?

While the news is interesting, could it indicate how far away the game is from release? It's entirely possible that with music being worked on for the game, development could be entering the later stages with perhaps 12-18 months left to go.

If this was the voice acting rather than a soundtrack there would be more grounds to suggest we could hear something soon. However, soundtracks are much easier to edit and change as necessary so could be completed much further out from launch to prevent it from being left too late to complete.

What would be most interesting out of this information is knowing whether or not Snoop and Dre feature within GTA 6 as characters in some way. With reports that the game could pursuit live events like in Fortnite, it's possible that this music is being created for an in-game event featuring the two artists.
