Genshin Impact Fontaine’s administration appears to thrive on shifting rules and endless paperwork, which often places the people of Fontaine at odds with the ‘laws’ of their own nation. To add salt to injury, when you happen to find yourself frantically trying to defend your case in court, Focalors, your own God of ‘Justice’, watches on with amusement.

Among the 18 new Fontaine characters, Hydro Archon Focalors, also known as Furina, is set to join the roster of Gods in Teyvat, following Venti, Zhongli, Ei, and Nahida. Numerous leaks have hinted that she wields a sword as her weapon and incorporates supportive mechanics into her gameplay. Her appearance in the Fontaine Archon Quest has only propelled her popularity among Genshin fans worldwide.

Read on to uncover recent Fontaine leaks and new information regarding the main deity for the region of Hydro, including her release date, element and weapon, official splash art and more!

Who is Furina, Hydro Archon Focalors?

Focalors, also known as the God of Justice, is the current Hydro Archon among The Seven and presides over Fontaine.

Fontaine boasts a complex and convoluted legal system that baffles even Yanfei, our resident esteemed lawyer from Liyue. Leaked images indicate that the Court of Fontaine will span across a large area within its own dedicated region, underscoring the importance placed on concepts of "justice" and "judgment" within the upcoming region.

Focalors considers herself a paragon of justice and righteousness, claiming to be "pure", flawless, and faultless.

However, Focalor’s obsession with the "purity" of law is accompanied by something more ominous - a massive prison facility hidden beneath the city. NPC Julien reveals the existence of The Fortress of Meropide, where individuals deemed guilty are imprisoned and permanently isolated from the rest of the nation's population. This adds a darker and more sinister aspect to Fontaine's legal system, raising questions about the nature of justice and the societal segregation between the "guilty" and "non-guilty".

Nahida on Focalors' personality

According to Dendro Archon Nahida, Focalors does not typically involve herself in legal proceedings. However, she takes pleasure in observing almost every trial and likes ‘immersing herself in that kind of atmosphere’. Nahida also emphasises that Focalors' personality is quite ‘unique’.

To Dainsleif, the God of Justice lives for the “spectacle of the courtroom" and seeks to "judge all other gods.” Which might indicate that she doesn't get along with the other Archons of Teyvat.

Interestingly, Focalors does not belong to the original roster of The Seven Archons who emerged from the aftermath of the Archon War. Following the cataclysm, the former Hydro Archon known as the Lord of Amrita perished, and is now one with the Harvisptokhm in Sumeru. Focalors was instated in her place as the Hydro Archon at a later time.

However, the Lochfolk, also known as the Oceanids, refused to acknowledge Focalors as Fontaine's new Archon. Upon learning of the Lord of Amrita's demise, they swiftly severed all ties with Fontaine. The lore implies that the Lochfolk departed from Fontaine due to differing beliefs and conflicting ideals with Focalors, the new Hydro Archon.

"Marvelous Merchandise" Liben talks about Fontaine

Several NPCs that players have encountered on their journeys across Teyvat have shed light on the situation in Fontaine, most of whom paint a rather bleak and foreboding picture, casting further doubt on Focalors' nature as a "righteous" deity.

Liben, the travelling merchant NPC of “Marvelous Merchandise”, states that the present Fontaine is quite dangerous and oppressive in nature, and that “dark clouds were gathering there”. Locals have also been described by him to be antsy, believing that some type of “judgement” is soon to come.

Furina release date

Typically, Archons are introduced in the version following the release of their associated nation. In Raiden Shogun and Zhongli’s case, they were released one version following the launch of Inazuma and Liyue, respectively. Meanwhile, Nahida debuted two versions after the introduction of Sumeru.

Following this pattern, it is probable that Focalors will not be released in Version 4.0 but rather in subsequent versions.

It was leaked recently by Uncle YC, that Furina will receive her first banner in Version 4.2, which is set to release on 8 November 2023.

Yes, based on leaks and speculation, Focalors will most likely be a playable sword-wielding Hydro unit.

Furina splash art

A reputable leaker, Meroimpact, recently revealed Furina's splash art. It seems that the colours of her outfit have been reversed, transitioning from the familiar white seen in the Fontaine Archon Quest to black. This aligns with Furina's dual nature, adding to the intrigue surrounding her character and leaving fans even more eager to learn about her.
