Genshin Impact is heading toward the launch of the Sumeru region, which will introduce Dendro, the element of Nature, and along with it, new characters and elemental reactions.
Cyno, a character many are familiar with from the Genshin Impact manga, looks likely to be playing a crucial role in the introduction of the new Sumeru region.
Here's everything we know about Cyno in Genshin Impact.
Release Date
Before Cyno gets any formal banner release, it's possible players will see him as an in-game NPC first. If so, Cyno would likely arrive in Genshin Impact 3.0 as a guide and story figure.
We expect Cyno will more formally arrive as a character in Genshin Impact 3.2, scheduled for release on November 16th in the 2022 Genshin Schedule.
Cyno Character Info: Weapon, Vision & more
If we pay attention to the story in Genshin Impact, it is possible to speculate which is the vision of the first character from Sumeru.
Every nation is introduced through one character, and all of them share the same type of Vision.
- In Mondstadt, the first character to talk with the Traveler was Amber, a 4-star Pyro Character
- Our first contact with the land of Liyue was Xiangling, the talented chef that is a 4-star Pyro Polearm User
- In the case of Inazuma, our guide was the guardian of the Kamisato Clan, Thoma
- Thoma was waiting for us in Ritou Harbor. He is also a 4-star Pyro Polearm character
Therefore, based on this pattern, we can expect that the character who will act as our introduction to Sumeru will be a Pyro Vision carrier. Further, this Pyro character will likely be Cyno who we know carries a Pyro emblem.
Cyno was teased during the promotional video Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview, released by Hoyoverse last year.
In the clip, all nations are introduced. This let players know the story of Teyvat and the traveler is divided into 8 chapters. Sumeru is the 4th chapter, following Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma.
In the video, we can see Ayaka as the central character in Inazuma. During Sumeru's cutscene we can see Cyno, a young boy with an attire that resembles the Egyptian deity Anubis.
In it we can also see a red Pyro vision and a polearm, though the weapon may change by the final version.
Cyno in the Genshin Impact Manga
The second Cyno appearance was during the 12th chapter of the Genshin Impact Manga. We found out he is a knowledgeable scholar from Sumeru Academia.
Cyno seems to be the perfect fit to introduce the Dendro Nation. He is familiar with characters like Amber and Lisa, and a great personality to bridge travelers to the new region.
His participation in the Storyline preview video also confirms he will be a prominent figure in our adventures in Sumeru.
