The Ligue 1 title race is wide open, with PSG not dominating as they have done in previous years.
Lille, Lyon and Monaco are all in contention, with some superb individual form putting their stars in contention for January’s Player of the Month (POTM).
Take a look at who we think will be nominated below.
Release Date
Lille’s Yusuf Yazici picked up December’s POTM award, and his SBC is available until late February.
Ligue 1’s official list of nominees could be the last set to be revealed this month, so we have a couple more weeks yet.
The winner is likely to be announced in late February, bringing with it a new SBC card with a big ratings boost.
Memphis Depay
Lyon are currently two points off league leaders Lille, and forward Memphis Depay’s three goals and two assists in January put him in contention for POTM.
Depay’s side picked up ten points from five matches last month and are well in the hunt for the Ligue 1 title.
Mauro Icardi
Since returning from injury, Argentine striker Mauro Icardi has provided two assists along with his two goals.
Icardi’s season has been ravaged by injury, but PSG will hope they can keep the striker fit for the remainder of the season.
Kevin Volland
Four goals and four assists for Kevin Volland in January could put the Monaco forward back on Germany’s radar!
Volland’s form has helped Monaco to within six points off top spot in one of the closest Ligue 1 title races in recent seasons.
Ludovic Ajorque
Strasbourg’s giant striker Ludovic Ajorque helped himself to four goals in January, taking his tally into double figures for the season.
Strasbourg still find themselves down the wrong end of the table and will be needing more goals from Ajorque to steer them clear from relegation.
Guillermo Maripan
Monaco won five games from five in January, with Chilean centre back Guillermo Maripan scoring four times!
These were Maripan’s first goals of the season, and he even threw in an assist for good measure.
