FIFA 21: Rage Quitting is actually good for the game!

We all know about rage quitting, and I’m sure many of us have done it too. But is it as awful as people think?

We don’t think so, and here is why.

What does it mean to rage quit?

The name lends itself to negative connotations. RAGE quit.

Leaving online sessions mid-game because you are losing is your stereotypical rage quit, but there are worse crimes out there!

CONTROL! Sometimes FIFA does get the better of us

In some instances, our emotions do get the better of us when we turn off our consoles mid-game, more often than not when we are losing!

However, this does not affect our opponents in the grand scheme of things as they get an early win and can carry on to the next.

When grinding out objectives or playing FUT Champs, an early quit from your opponent is almost a blessing!

Blessing in disguise

All the talk surrounding rage quitting suggests that it is a heinous crime in the gaming community.

It is far from it, given the right circumstances of course.

Rather than the petulant and cowardly act it is perceived to be, why not concede the game if you know your opponent is far superior?

Perhaps EA should introduce a mercy rule, one where you can concede the game and still leave with your dignity and conscience intact.

Plus, chances are your opponent would much rather an early quit than a drawn-out dead-rubber, or worse yet… someone who PUTS DOWN THEIR CONTROLLER!

Golden Goal

The FIFA community has come together to help each other through the ICON Swaps grind!

An unofficial Golden Goal rule has begun circulating, where the player who concedes the first goal in the game then concedes the game itself.

As the objectives are all done in FUT Friendlies, there are no repercussions to your record either!

Here, the ‘rage quit’ should be celebrated. It will save countless hours of playing time working towards those valuable tokens.

In the FUT Friendlies alone you need 30 wins to earn the five tokens available, so a little helping hand won’t go amiss!

Rage Quit Etiquette

This is not to say that you should expect your opponent to concede.

If you are someone who likes to watch several replays of your goals and rubs the celebration in your opponent’s face, I don’t think they are going to help you out!

Be respectful, skip the replays and get back to kick-off as quickly as possible, and your opponent may just concede and let you get on with your day.

It goes without saying but quitting while the game is tied helps nobody either.

So, in future, when your opponent concedes the game in the first 10 minutes, remember the noble act as it helps you on your FIFA journey.
