eFootball: Konami lose MAJOR license to EA Sports

eFootball is flourishing after a rough start, with Dream Team currently available and Master League set for release in 2023.

All that good news has been somewhat squashed, with a recent announcement detailing a major loss for the game.

Juventus return to FIFA

There had been plenty of rumours spreading around, and now EA has officially confirmed it - Juventus will be BACK in FIFA 23.

The Old Lady has been absent from the title for a few years now, with Konami holding the rights to the Italian giants.

FIFA fans had been left using Piemonte Calcio in a generic kit, taking away from the authenticity of the game.

Konami Confirmation

We have known for a while that the exclusive deal between Juventus and eFootball was coming to an end, meaning they would become available to be officially licensed in other games such as Football Manager and FIFA.

Juve will still remain in eFootball on both console and mobile versions, however, they can now appear in many other games too.

It's unclear what this news means for the future of Juventus in eFootball, with a future update potentially arriving to remove them, their kits and stadium from the game.

For now, Juventus remain in eFootball and we wait to see if this changes in the near future.

Bayern Munich EXTEND Exclusive Deal

It's not all bad news for eFootball, as Konami has confirmed that Bayern Munich have extended their partnership with eFootball, with the German champions set to remain in the game for many years to come.

Bayern Munich, one of the world's biggest clubs, will continue to have their stadium and full squad face-scans EXCLUSIVE to eFootball, in a huge blow to EA Sports' efforts to get football's powerhouses back together.

This news will undoubtedly be music to the ears of eFootball fans, with this major deal showcasing the Konami have huge plans for the franchise moving forward.

Naoki Morita, Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.’s European President, commented:

"We are delighted to be extending our partnership with FC Bayern. Being a partner to one of Europe’s elite football clubs presents KONAMI and the club with many opportunities."
"To have been partners during a period where they have won multiple titles and become champions of Europe has been fantastic, and we cannot wait to continue to produce engaging and exciting activations with FC Bayern for their fans and ours for the years to come."
