Does Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Have Co-Op Multiplayer?

The release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the next PS5 exclusive title from developer Insomniac Games, is right around the corner.

With the title set to launch on June 11, excitement levels are at an all-time high amongst the PlayStation faithful.

Ratchet & Clank's adventures have taken them all over the omniverse, over the course of 15 games being released in the franchises 19-year history.

Rift Apart looks to set an entirely new benchmark for the series, in terms of graphical fidelity and technical prowess.

And so, with so much of the game's marketing focus on Rivet, the new and playable female Lombax, it would only be reasonable to wonder, will Rift Apart feature co-op multiplayer?

Does Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Have Co-Op Multiplayer

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will not feature co-op or multiplayer of any kind. This was officially confirmed by the developer.

Long time fans of the series will know that co-op, and even competitive multiplayer game modes, are nothing new to the franchise.

2004's Up Your Arsenal featured a competitive multiplayer mode along the lines of team deathmatch.

2005's Deadlocked featured a fully cooperative campaign for two players to play through, and also featured a competitive multiplayer mode.

2011's All 4 One took things to the next level, allowing for a four-player online drop-in drop-out cooperative experience.

So the idea of a multiplayer Ratchet & Clank is certainly not a new one. While the examples mentioned worked to varying levels of success, multiplayer has never been the true focus of the franchise.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has been designed, from the ground up, to be a complete and cohesive single-player endeavour.

With the game releasing in just under a week, we won't have too much longer to wait to find out how successful Insomniac was in that regard.
