Despite its initial release over 4 years ago in 2016, Dead by Daylight has been well supported throughout its lifespan.
2021 is shaping up to be no different, as the developers have a massive update lined up for us.
With some big changes coming to the game, here's what the update contains!
The Clown Changes
The Clown, proclaimed as the 'resident funny man', has some gameplay changes inbound.
Firstly, we have the afterpiece antidote. This is a throwable item that releases a yellow gas which gives a 10% bonus in speed.
This also neutralises the negative effects of the Afterpiece Tonic. So, watch out, as you don't want to make the Survivors faster!
For The Clown, the reload time on bottles has also been reduced. Reloading now takes 3 seconds, not 5, and will give you four bottles in any combination.
Finally, there are some "interesting new combinations" in The Clown's add-ons.
HUD Update
After four years with relatively few changes, the HUD was beginning to feel a tad packed.
That's why the team behind the game has decided to rebuild the thing from scratch again!
Character Portraits now display the face of the Survivor next to their name, a Hook Counter will show you who has been hooked and who can't be hooked again, and UI scale options will let you tailor the HUD to a size you like.
In a nice note to the content creator community, the devs made sure to leave space for a facecam if you're a streamer!
Matchmaking and Graphics Update
The final major elements to receive a change are the matchmaking system and the graphics in two of the maps.
Skill-Based Match Making will soon be turned back on, and players will receive a certain number of bloodpoints depending on the rank they reach. These ranks will be separate for Killer and Survivor.
Finally, two maps, Gideon Meat Plant and Crotus Prenn Asylum will be receiving a graphical overhaul. The team released some screenshots, and the maps are looking truly terrifying!
The team has even released their first ever episode of Dev Tapes, which you can check out here!
