Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way, but there's still so much further to go. In the biggest oversell of recent history, Cyberpunk 2077 launched a bug-filled mess that couldn't even be saved by Keanu Reeves. Can Patch 1.4 be enough of an update to rectify that for Cyberpunk 2077?
Well...
UPDATE - Next-gen Cyberpunk 2077 delayed
In a move that shocks no one, but somehow is still a shock... CDPR are delaying the release of their next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 until the first quarter of 2022. We haven't heard much about this re-release, so we're not surprised that it's been pushed back.
Interestingly enough, the Witcher 3's next-gen release has also been delayed until 2022 - and after Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen launch!
What does this mean for Patch 1.4 and the future of Cyberpunk 2077? Who knows. CDPR should comment further on this delay soon.
Latest - CDPR is hiring
As pointed out in Forbes, CDProjektRed is currently hiring for the future of the game.
This means they are preparing for some big updates in the future. Perhaps this hints at update 1.4.
Looking for feedback
Paweł Sasko, Cyberpunk 2077 quest director, is currently looking for feedback on some of the best and worst quests from Cyberpunk.
This will help the future of the game and whatever CDPROJEKTRED work on next. Make sure to get your voice heard (constructively).
Update 1.31 Released
CD Projekt Red shadow dropped Update 1.31 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the middle of September. The minor update contains a few crucial fixes mostly for broken/glitched questlines.
We still expect a few more minor updates like this before Update 1.4 is ready to go.
Next update is likely months away
Trying to find the redemption path from Cyberpunk 2077's poor launch, the team have been regularly updating the game to improve its performance and fix issues. As we only received a patch in August, we may not see another until November.
Here's what we know so far.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.4 Release Date
Given that Update 1.3 and its patch notes have only just dropped in Cyberpunk 2077, we expect the next major update to still be a few months away. That being said, we still expect it to drop in 2021 potentially around the anniversary of the game's release.
While this is a period that CDPR may not want to 'celebrate' so to speak, dropping Update 1.4 could be a way of cleansing some demons as they get closer to what they wanted to achieve with Cyberpunk 2077.
What will be in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.4
According to the rather awkward REDstream that CDPR hosted for the release of the latest update, it was still comprised of mostly fixes and correcting stability issues. There was a strong feeling that the game could start to see more visual and content updates moving forward and Update 1.4 would be the first one set out this way.
While Cyperbunk 2077 did have plenty of release content, their plans for any kind of post-release roadmap was likely hampered by the state of the game upon release. We may finally start to see new content planned for Cyberpunk starting with the 1.4 Update.
