Review bombing is an act that's driven many a headline in recent years and CyberPunk 2077 is no stranger to this treatment. Its challenging and ultimately failure of a launch drew the ire from a huge number of players upon release.
The game has been out for more than a year and many major patches have been released to help CyberPunk reach its true potential. Have we finally reached that point or is this more internet trickery and trolling?
CyberPunk 2077's Recent Review Revival
All of the hard work that has gone into turning CyberPunk 2077 around appears to be paying off if reviews and Steam are anything to go by. As noted by Pawel Sasko - the Lead Quest Designer for The Witcher 3 & CyberPunk 2077 - more than 80% of the recent reviews left for the game have been 'Very Positive'.
As you can see, when this was pointed out, the total number of these reviews topped nearly 12,000. Overall, the game has nearly 400,000 reviews, leaving the game with a score of 'Mostly Positive'.
It must be noted that Steam reviews are a very superficial way of determining the wider reception of a game. Anyone who has purchased and played the game can leave a review that isn't scored but instead is a recommendation of play.
You can select 'Yes' or 'No' to the question of 'Would you recommend this game to other players. Then you may write a more detailed review to offer your exact thought and feelings. The pile-on mentality of Steam reviews also leaves them as a very fickle source to use as factual.
One thing that is undeniable though, is the amount of work and effort that has gone into improving CyberPunk 2077 over the last year. While no one will have enjoyed the circumstances around its release, perhaps it truly deserves its plaudits for where it currently sits today.
