While the world is trying to learn more about the features and release date of GTA 6, Rockstar Games has supposedly been working on remasters for three classic GTA titles in secret.
Let's take a look at the reports and see if they are too good to be true, or if we may get to revisit Vice City or Liberty City sometime soon.
Three GTA Remasters possibly in development?
It was recently reported by Kotaku that Rockstar Dundee has been leading the way on the remasters of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. It's unclear how in-depth the remasters of these GTA titles will be as reports have varied.
It has been reported that while being classes as remasters, these are not head-to-toe remasters in the classical sense and they may be more in line with ports with a slight visual upgrade.
Others have suggested that the games are being ported over to the Unreal Engine and they will have a substantial upgrade.
When will the GTA Remasters be released?
The original Kotaku article suggests that the release date for the GTA remasters has moved around quite a bit already. It's been mentioned that they could release alongside the release of GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.
Given the scope of the project and an overall change in plans, it's now believed that they will be released independently in either late October or early November.
It's almost a shame that this news has come out before the release at it would have been an incredible surprise if Rockstar shadow dropped these games into stores with little warning.
Such is the modern gaming landscape, it's hard to keep anything a secret for too long but we're 100% hyped to jump back into these classic GTA games if they do in fact receive remasters.
